YOUNG AFRICANS, ZAMALEK SETTLED FOR A DRAW

Tanzania soccer kings Young Africans settled for one all draw against visiting Zamalek of Egypt in a preliminary round- first leg of Champions league match played on Saturday at the National Stadium in Dar es Salaam.
Young Africans made several moves against Zamalek defenders especially in the first half, but his attackers led by Zambia import Davis Mwape could not see the nets behind goalie Abd Alwahed El Sayed.
However their efforts paid dividends in the 36th minute after a right flank long shot taken by Ugandan Hamis Kiiza went straight in the net despite of goalie El Sayed effort to catch the ball.
Double substitute made by Zamalek under the tutelage of former Egypt national side Hassan Shehata prove futile after former England’s Wigan Athletic player Amr Hassan Zaki in the 73rd minute.
Young Africans coach Kostadin Papic from Serbia he was not happy with the results but insisted that in the three previous matches his team played in Tanzania Premier League, his boy’s performance in the Champions League match was good.
“It is very rare to get five clear chances in a Champions League. My attackers were not keen to turn those chances into goals. I know it will be a battle in Cairo for a second leg match but I assure you I will prepare my players for it,” Serb tactician told reporters in a post match conference
